Commentary about Madrid Hotels:
Deciding where to sleep in Madrid can be a difficult task. There are hundreds and hundreds of places to spend a night and many are very competitive in location and price. Should you stay in a hotel, hostel, or youth-hostel? Only you can decide this, but I have listed below a complete collection (and growing) of Madrid hotels on the internet. Prices vary GREATLY. One can read reviews and recommendations of MANY Madrid hotels in the "Hostels & Other Lodgings" forum of MadridMan's ALL SPAIN Message Board. |
WHERE to stay? Recommended area of lodging in Madrid is the Old city center including Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Gran Via, & Huertas neighborhood. MadridMan's favorite zone is the old neighborhood of Huertas - the area near Plaza Santa Ana. Huertas is located about halfway between Puerta del Sol and the El Prado Museum, still walkable to the tourist areas, is less touristy but has a number of smaller hotels, wonderful tapas bars, and a real feel of "Old Madrid" with its narrow, jumbled street layout. The busy Puerta del Sol, Gran Via, & Plaza Mayor areas are "where the action is". This is the tourist center of Old Madrid with easy, on-foot access to all touristic places to visit. Should you decide to stay outside of "Old Madrid", not to worry because the city is VERY WELL connected via metro. |
